Peace in troubled times

Are you worried about the time that we living in? Does it scare you to think that there are wars breaking out, that our president is making decisions that are not best for our country? I know I am worried about these times.

But what does God think? Well first of all, all our government is God ordained.

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. For the one in authority is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God's servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. (Romans 13:1-4)

I read this and this gives me a little comfort, knowing that God has set up His government for His plan. But being a human and living in such a prosperous country, I get concerned thinking that our great country might be headed the wrong way.

Again, God tells us why in Matthew 24:4-14
4 Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

God is telling us here that before His time can come certain things must happen. Are we getting close to the end times? Boy, I do not know that answer, but we should be praying for God to continue to spare our time so we can save one more soul. But still, we have to live through rough times so God's plan can come about.

Reading this scripture gives me comfort knowing God is in control and the rest of the world is not.

Are you worried about our country? Are you ready for the turmoil that may all come about?  Do you think our president will answer those questions? Do you think he will do what God expects of Him? All I know is, Jesus is always the answer.
