Spirit of God

1 Corinthians 2:14-16 NIV

“The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”

Non-Christians cannot understand God, and they cannot grasp the concept that God’s Spirit lives in believers. Don’t expect most people, including family, to approve of or understand your decision to follow Christ. It all seems so silly to them. Just as a tone-deaf person cannot appreciate fine music, the person who rejects God cannot understand God’s beautiful message. With the lines of communication broken, he or she won’t be able to hear what God is saying to them.

Romans 11:34 NIV “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”

No one can comprehend God, but through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, believers have insight some of God’s plans, thoughts, and actions - they, in fact, have the mind of Christ. Through the Holy Spirit we can begin to know God’s thoughts, talk with Him, and expect His answers to our prayers.

Are you spending enough time with Christ to have His very mind in you? An intimate relationship with Christ comes only from spending time consistently in His presence and in His Word.

Philippians 2:5-11 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in very nature God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
    by taking the very nature of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death—
        even death on a cross!

9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
    and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
    in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
    to the glory of God the Father.

Jesus Christ was humble, willing to give up His rights in order to obey God and serve people. Like Christ, we should have a servant’s attitude, serving out of love for God and for others, not out of guilt or fear. Remember, you can choose your attitude. You can approach life expecting to be served, or you can look for opportunities to serve others.
