There were many people that lost their lives that day, nearly 3,000. There were 411 brave men and women, first responders, that died trying to save the lives of others.
I am not trying to make light of any of this, but did you know that there was one person over 2000 years ago that gave His life for the entire world? He gave his life up and knew ahead of time that He would. That person was Jesus of Nazareth.
Matthew 1:21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
The first responders that fateful September morning never knew what they were walking into, but out of duty they went charging in trying. Jesus Christ came into this world knowing exactly how it would turn out. He came knowing that He would die for all mankind.
Isaiah 43:1-3 But now, this is what the LORD says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.
So as we look back on that clear September morning remember those that innocently died, but also remember Jesus Christ. They both died trying to save your life, but only one can give you eternal life.
John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
