So this past week in Virginia we experienced an earthquake, severe thunderstorms, and a hurricane. Some were asking, “Is this the beginning of the end?” I heard others say that they were scared about the events and wondered if God was behind this.
Well I cannot pretend to know the answer to the question about the beginning of the end, as we are told in the Bible that: Matthew 24:36 But the exact day and hour? No one knows that, not even heaven's angels, not even the Son. Only the Father knows.
But about being scared, well I can empathize with that. I was in a building close to some railroad tracks sitting in a meeting when all of sudden the table began to vibrate and then the room began to rumble. I being naïve about these things asked: Is there a freight train passing by? Someone responded that the train does not shake the room this bad. Then the building began to sway, needless to say we quickly evacuated the building. Around that time I had a fleeting thought of not making it out of that building alive. But that was quickly quashed in me by knowing that God was there and He would protect me.
In Psalm 46:1-3 God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in seastorm and earthquake, Before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains.
We heard from quite a few friends and relatives asking if we were okay, in which I can report that we are fine both physically and emotionally. Although we did lose one plate when it rumbled off a shelf onto the floor and then in the thunderstorm we lost a canopy we had set up on our deck.
But if you still question whether or not this is the start of the end times and you are worried about your life, then it may be time to get to know your protector and savior. Do you know God and Jesus? If not then, yes this is the beginning of the end times. You need to pray to receive Jesus into your heart and ask God for forgiveness of your sins and ask Him to protect you. Because my God, your God does that.
I am also reminded of 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 So we're not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There's far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last forever.
