Abide

 Abide

“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7

The dictionary definition of abide has five uses of the verb: “to remain; continue; stay”, “to have one's abode; dwell; reside”, “to put up with; tolerate”, “to endure, sustain, or withstand without yielding or submitting”, and “to wait for; await”.

In the Bible, the word takes on a greater intimacy, and is often used to show the need to rely on the Lord in every aspect of one’s life.

Christians who abide in Christ march to the beat of God’s Spirit. We follow His lead. The Holy Spirit serves as our spiritual compass, guiding each of us to complete our individual pilgrimages. As we remain in Him, the Holy Spirit empowers us to overcome any challenge we encounter along our journey.

Lord, I know that I am commanded to abide in You and I desire to live my life day by day, simply resting and abiding in You. Teach me Lord how to abide in You, so that all that is of myself will melt away as the Spirit of Christ pulses through my being.

Give me the strength to be a fruitful branch, for You alone are my sufficiency. Enable me to abide in Your love so that I may produce much fruit, out of the abundance of Your grace. Amen
