Do you know God?

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Isaiah 55:6

Heard a great sermon this week about knowing God.

Do you know God? Now I am not just talking about, yeah I know who God is, He wrote the Bible, His son is Jesus and He is someone I pray to when times are bad.
No I mean do you know God or do you know God?

Let’s look at it this way. I have visited Dallas, Texas a few times, I've seen pictures, done research on the internet and can tell you some cool places to go there. I have lived to Plantation, Florida and I know many people there, can tell you stories about how the town grew around me, I can show you where I used to ride dirt bikes, fished in some good spots, and the best place for chicken wings. So I can also say that I know Plantation, Florida. But which do you think I know better?

Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

You see I know Dallas because I have visited there and I have studied pictures, but I know Plantation, because I lived there for 9 years.  You see I saw Plantation with my heart, my soul and all my senses.
Jeremiah 29: 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Do you seek God for what he can do for you or do you seek God to have a relationship with Him? Do you seek Him earnestly?

Psalm 119:2 Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart…

Are you seeking God on the fringes or are seeking God Himself?
What do you expect from God? Are you expecting Him to give you stuff or are you expecting just God? You should seek Him expectantly.

Psalm 119:58 I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.

You see, to really know God, who He is, you must take time for Him and seek Him. Once you find Him, He will provide for you and never leave you. Oh, you may fall away, but He won’t. God will always be there.
But if you forsake Him, He will reject you, forever!

1 Chronicles 28:9 “And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

So do you know God or do you know God.  I can say this; I Know, That I Know, I Know?
