Things change fast...

How quickly can things change?  Two days ago it was almost 70 degrees and today we have about a half inch of snow!  Life is also that way.  One day we are cruising along without any cares and then wham the car breaks down or the fridge goes out.  You know what I am talking about don’t you?  Well those things can be repaired, but what about your life?

When your car breaks down we all know of a good mechanic or if the fridge goes out, we can call a repairman or simply purchase a new one.  But what about your life?

If you have a personal relationship with Jesus you know who to call to repair your life.  If you do not, you spend much time trying to figure out what went wrong or why it went wrong.

2 Kings 20:5Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the LORD.

When our lives are broken, they need fixing. Too often, when something is broken, we spend all our time trying to figure out why it is broken. We have a natural curiosity to know the "Why?" behind what is happening to us. We ask questions like, "If God is an all good God, why is our world broken?" The most difficult thing to understand in life is why pain, problems and suffering are a part of it. If we are not careful, contemplating "Why?” will leave us bitter and cynical. Spending all our time philosophizing about why our world is broken does little to mend our broken lives.

Psalm 6:2 Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint; heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony.

The beauty of the Bible is seen in God's overwhelming joy in salvaging our broken lives. Ultimately sin is to blame for all life's brokenness. The beauty of the Bible is that God teaches us how to get on with a broken life. God teaches us how to turn our defeat into victory through divine healing. The greatest demonstration of God's power throughout the Scriptures is how God salvages broken helpless lives. God's power for healing is unbelievable and this is the reoccurring story throughout redemption history.

You see having a personal relationship with Jesus will get you through all the fast changing situations in your life.  You won’t look at the trouble with your car as an imposition, but maybe a chance to talk to the mechanic about his relationship with Jesus.  Or maybe someone else is sitting in the waiting room.   God desperately wants to work his work in each of our lives even if we believe it is too late.

Psalm 51:17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.

When life isn't working, we try to fix it, we try to "fake it till we make it", or we dwell on why it is broken.  So when things go fast and things break in your life, remember that God will heal them.  But you first have to go to Him and ask.

3 John 1:2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
