Leaving your mark

Michael Jordan will probably be known as the best basketball player that ever lived. Tiger Woods will probably be known as the greatest golfer that ever played the game. What will you be known as? When your children are grown, your job is finished and you life is over, what will your legacy be? Will it be the greatest father that ever lived? Will it be the greatest coworker, the greatest boss, or the greatest at spreading the gospel?

Spreading the gospel remains our calling.

Rom. 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

Paul tells us why he is unashamed of the gospel and eager to preach it everywhere he goes. The reason is that the gospel is the power of God to save everyone who believes; it is the very revelation of the righteousness of God!

How can we not be excited about the gospel and how can we not be excited to share that information?

1 Cor. 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Who cares what people think, the only person we have to please and impress is Jesus. A Christian does not obey God in order to please him. Instead a Christian obeys God because we have been saved, our nature is changed, we are studying to know God’s will, and because we are yielded to the Holy Spirit.

Believers are being transformed into Christ’s likeness by learning sound doctrine and want to give as Christ gave. With a burden for lost souls, we respond by giving from a sincere desire and from our best ability. We give our lives, our time, and our money.

What greater legacy can we leave if we are known as one who was spreading the gospel? Get out there spread the gospel, if it's by emails, passing out tracks, holding a bible study, teaching Sunday School, singing, whatever you can imagine you can you use to spread the gospel. Even spread the word via social networking.

Remember that God is present with you always. That God is active. God is not a passive God who sits up somewhere and just watches as his creation flounders. God is actively involved and engaged in our lives. God is redeeming the circumstances of our lives, every single circumstance.

Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

My father once told me that we are alike in which we both are trying make a dent on the world!  If this is by spreading the news of Jesus Christ, then I will have left my mark.  How will you make your dent?
