What do you value most? If what you value most is a relationship with God then you will set aside regular time during each day to pray to Him.
We all make time for what we value the most.
Have you gotten into the habit of praying to God on a regular basis?
How's your prayer life? "What prayer life? I don't have a prayer life. I'm too busy!" Yes, we are all quite busy, but is that a legitimate excuse?
Psalm 55:17 Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice.
David was king over the entire nation of Israel. Can we even imagine all the responsibilities that came with the job? Still, he prayed to God morning, noon and evening. David leaves us without excuse.
I know my prayer life is not where it should be. Yeah, I pray for those things that I want or are close to my heart, but what about other things that I should be praying for?
How many times have we said “I’ll pray for you” and then went ahead and prayed for that person? How many of us are guilty of receiving a prayer list from church or Sunday school class and stuck in our Bible, not even thinking twice about it?
We all make time for what we value the most.
Others might say, "But I don't even know how to pray! What am I supposed to pray about?" That's a fair question. The 12 disciples asked the same of Jesus.
It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples." Luke 11:1.
Do you value the opportunity you have to develop a strong, lifelong relationship with your spiritual Father? To do this you must pray daily. Remember, We all make time for what we value the most.
Just the other day my brother asked me to pray about something along with him. My initial response was sure, but the more I thought about it was this something I wanted or for my brother? Well, I decided to try. When I first began to pray about it, I thought of many things, mostly this is not what I want. Then God spoke to me, “You’re right this is not what you want”. After a few days the praying about the situation became a little clearer even to the point that I may not like the answer, but as we know, we pray to do God’s work not ours.
So Tim, I am still praying and will continue for 30 days. I know you have been praying about this for quite some time. Just remember that we may not like the direction of the answer. But, we know that He will answer us.
1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
So again I have to ask myself, “What do I value most”? If my answer is to have a relationship with God then I have to set aside regular time during each day to pray to Him.
We all make time for what we value the most.
